Remote Online Notary

FAQ

When did online notarization become legal?

As of February 1, 2023 the New York Department of State announced the legalization of online notarization for New York.

All of our notaries are certified and fully commissioned in New York State.

How do I know my information is safe?

We use a secure portal online system to conduct our sessions called Bluenotary.us – an all-in-one notary system accredited and approved by New York State.

The only information we require through email is full name and email address of any signers on the document, so that we can send you the link to your secure appointment portal.

What is the cost?

We use a simple pricing format: $25 per document notarization with one notary seal. $8 for additional notary seal, and $4 for additional signer.

What are your hours?

We have very flexible hours to make sure you can get the help you need, when you need it! We also book as far in advance, or as last minute as you need.

9:00am – 9:00pm Weekdays, 10:30am – 9:00pm Saturdays

What if I'm out of town?

We can still quickly get your document notarized! As long as your document is regarding New York State, one of our NYS Notaries can help you no matter where you’re visiting!

About Your Appointment

What types of documents can be notarized?

You’ll know your document needs to be notarized when you see a seal at the end to be filled out by a notary in your state.

A Notary Public can help you by:

  • administering oaths and affirmations
  • taking affidavits and depositions
  • certifying acknowledgments or proof of such written instruments as deeds, mortgages, and powers of attorney
  • demanding acceptance or payment of foreign and inland bills of exchange, promissory notes and obligations in writing, and protesting the same for non-payment

Where does the session take place?

It’s a fully online session, so feel free to call at the comfort of your own home! Before your session you’ll receive an email with the link to meet your Notary.

We use Bluenotary.us for our sessions. This notary system is an all-in-one notary system accredited and approved by New York State.

What should I bring?

  1. A valid Drivers License or State ID, or Passport or Local/County/State/Government ID (with photo)
  2. Completed Unsigned Document(s) to be notarized. This can be uploaded when you enter the appointment, or you can send it to your Notary through email so they can upload it for you.
  3. Internet Access at the time of session. We will be having a video interaction, so having connection to internet, video, and audio is required.

What forms of ID can you accept?

  • State-issued driver’s license
  • State-issued identification card
  • U.S. Passport issued by the U.S. Department of State
  • U.S. military ID
  • State, county, local government IDs

ID needs to be (1) issued by a governmental agency; (2) be valid and current; (3) contain the photographic image of the bearer; (4) have an accurate physical description of the bearer, if applicable; and (5) includes the signature of the bearer.

Foreign Passports need to meet the criteria listed above. *Please note, some foreign credit/debit cards are unable to be processed through the secure system we use for sessions.*

Troubleshoot Issues

My biometrics didn’t go through. Now what?

The system will have you re-enter your information. Go ahead and do that – It should work at this point.

It’s still not working? Email your Notary and he/she will create a new appointment using a different way to verify your identity.

It tells me there's an issue with my address.

Try entering your address exactly how it’s written on the form of ID you’re using.

I try to join the appointment, but when I’m there it won’t load.

Close out all browser tabs and join your appointment through the original link again. (If you lost the original link, email your Notary asking to resend the link.)

After the session, if you want your old tabs back, click the burger symbol to the far right of your browser, click History, then Recently Closed Tabs.

I’m trying to sign the document but I don’t have a touch screen device.

You’ll click the blue signature box with your mouse, and sign using your mouse.

I'm in. Why hasn't the session started?

The session won’t be able to start until identity verification is passed AND your unsigned document is uploaded.

The secure system doesn’t allow the Notary to join the session until both are completed.
